Many of us are already aware of how the fossil fuel industry is destroying our environment and contributing to climate change. Community leaders like Greta Thunberg and others across the globe consistently speak out in support of the human right to a clean world. Every day, people stand up and fight for our planet, but unfortunately some issues are overlooked, and some voices are not heard.

My main goal is to shed some light on how Indigenous communities in America have had their health and their land (more specifically, their water) harmed and stolen.

Native Americans are already documented to struggle with unemployment, poverty, and health problems at greater rates than many other communities in the United States. However, a number of events in recent years have also brought another issue to the country's attention: Indigenous land rights are often trampled over for the sake of fossil fuel corporations.

When most people are asked to think of examples of this, they may come up with the Standing Rock protests surrounding the Dakota Access Pipeline back in 2016. While this is certainly one of the largest and most publicized examples of a time when Native rights were infringed upon, it is certainly not the only one.

From the Standing Rock Protests to present day, Indigenous land continues to be targeted. This is an issue that does not deserve to be forgotten. Today, many Native communities are still struggling to keep the rights to their land, their water, and their health. On this website, I will be writing about both past event and the continued struggles this community faces when it comes to the environment.

I hope that by continuing to write about these issues, I will both raise and maintain awareness for these issues.
